The Upvc Door Handles Success Story You'll Never Believe

Types of UPVC Door Handles

If your door handle made of uPVC is in need of replacement, it's important to choose the correct replacement for your home. Locksmiths can supply and install high-security uPVC door handles that have additional security features.

The most important measurements are measurement A (known as PZ) and the length of the backplate (measurement F). Make sure to check these measurements to ensure that your new uPVC handle will fit.

Lever/Lever

A lever is a solid bar that pivots around a central point (known as a the fulcrum). When you apply force to the end of the lever, it will tend to rotate the fulcrum to the direction of the force. This motion increases the force applied which allows you to lift or move something that would require a greater amount of force if you attempted to apply it directly to the load.

The distance between the fulcrum and the point where you apply the force determines the distance the lever can move. This is referred to as the mechanical advantage. The advantage in mechanical terms increases when the lever is extended. You can determine the mechanical advantage by dividing the distance from the fulcrum to the point where you are applying the force by the distance between the fulcrum and the end of the lever.

Levers can have a variety of effects based on how the force is applied. For example the class 2 lever is inclined to turn in the opposite direction to when the force applied to it (like a teeter-totter). If you push the door handle, the forces will produce the same rotational effects as this.

However, levers don't create energy. Levers multiply the force by converting small amounts of effort applied over a long distance into greater amounts of force applied over shorter distances. This is what enables you to accomplish more in a shorter period of time, and it is why levers are often employed to lift heavy objects or moving large quantities of cargo. This is also the principle behind the levers that are found in many everyday tools like crowbars and fishing rods, hammer claws and even your own legs when you stand on the hand brake of your car.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad handles are a form of upvc door handle with levers on both sides to operate the multipoint lock. They are available in a variety of finishes & variations and can be used on a variety of materials that include UPVC doors, Aluminium doors & Timber Doors. They are sold in pairs for the doors, both exterior and interior, with spindles and screws included. They are available in hand- and non-handled versions to accommodate different types of users.

They are typically used for new constructions and are fitted to replace existing upvc doors. The levers are lifted to open the multipoint locks and the key is turned to lock or close the door. They offer a little more security than traditional lever door handles, as the locking can only be done by the inside using a key.

They are not as safe as a cylinder lock, but they are an affordable way to increase the security of your home. The only downside is that they don't offer the same level of protection like a cylinder bolt and therefore don't stop external access in the event that the door has been left open.

We stock a variety of lever pad upvc handles that are made by top manufacturers in the field. They will therefore be made with high quality components. In general, they are supplied with a manufacturer's guarantee.

Typically, they will be designed to be compatible with a 92mm lock, or the replacement version called a Paddock lock. They will have an 82mm cylinder center on the inside and 62mm outside. They are also fitted with two spindle followers. Some are supplied with the backplate in place, while others can be removed to accommodate different fixing centers.

Lever/Snib

Lever latches are the most basic of all door handles, are commonly used. By pressing down on the lever, it operates a simple latch mechanism inside the door to keep it closed, which can be locked using a key. Some lever privacy handles operate using the same principle but with the addition of a snib (like a doorknob).

A snib button can be extremely useful, particularly for homes where it's important to ensure privacy or security. If your spouse is expected to arrive at home late from work, you can utilize the snib to ensure they aren't allowed in until they're ready to move in. This type handle is also used in interior doors such as bedrooms, where you may require a lock to prevent access from the outside.

Snib buttons may cause problems in certain situations, particularly when you have locks that are old and warped doors. If the snib is applied in error or by someone who isn't quite used to it, the door may slam shut and shut you out. You can usually get in by knocking the door frame or letterbox. But this isn't a good idea.

If your uPVC has a snib, we recommend replacing it with an electronic lock from the E-LOK 7 Series. These can be retrofitted over pull handle kits with double turns and come with cover plates to hide existing holes for a seamless install. The E-LOK app can be used to open doors with RFID cards or mechanical keys. Passcodes are also offered for security and convenience. The system has been tested for 200,000 cycles in order to ensure durability. The handles themselves are constructed with a solid metal construction and are BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 for corrosion resistance.

Lever/Moveable Pad

This is a very popular handle style for front doors that has the benefit of stopping the door from being opened by the outside without keys if the lock is not deadlocked. This is accomplished through an external 'pad' handle that locks in the gap between the handles and lock case to stop the latch from being pulled back or the door opened.

This type of handle is designed to fit uPVC doors that are fitted with multipoint locks that operate with a split spindle operation. This type of operation requires the internal lever handle as well as the external pad handle to be installed on the same lock case. This can be a simple switch from the current uPVC handles, but it could also require a change to the lock case or even a new set of handles to accommodate this additional functionality.

These levers/movable pad door handles are suitable for uPVC doors and come with a maintenance free slide bearing fixing lugs, fixing lugs and spring cassettes provided. These handles have a cut-out for a euro-profile, and can be mounted on a variety of uPVC or wood doors.

Lever-movable pads are available in a variety of finishes to fit many different multipoint locks. They are designed for use with split spindle locks that have a centre cylinder of 92mm and require a specific set of split spindles that is supplied by the lock maker.
